What is a Liturgy?

A liturgy is a written prayer designed to be used for the edification of others. Liturgies usually take a specific topic, moment, circumstance, or event and craft a prayer unique to that moment.

The Psalms and other prayers in Scripture are biblical examples of liturgies. In Luke 1:46-55 we see Mary echo the words of Hannah’s prayer spoken centuries earlier. Borrowing the prayers of other believers is nothing new!
